Trauma Informed Counselling & Somatic Therapy Online Across Australia

You have learned to keep going. Perhaps something within you is asking for attention.

When the mind and body begin to work together, the way you relate to yourself and others begins to shift. - Nisha Trivedi

How this support works

Life can ask a lot of us.

Sometimes this looks like carrying responsibilities that feel difficult to share, managing competing demands, navigating grief or loss, supporting others through their struggles, or continuing to move forward while quietly holding more than anyone realises.

Patterns that once helped you navigate relationships, family expectations, work, or significant life challenges can begin to feel exhausting, isolating, or difficult to sustain. You may notice this in your relationships, emotional wellbeing, physical health, or sense of self.

Talk therapy can help us understand what has happened and the meaning we have made of our experiences. Somatic practices create opportunities to notice how those experiences may continue to influence us beyond words alone. Bringing both into the room can support recognition of patterns that may no longer serve you and create opportunities to respond to yourself, your relationships, and life's challenges with greater flexibility and choice.

Rather than focusing only on thoughts or only on bodily sensations, this work honours the connection between story, body, relationships, and culture. Over time, my clients describe experiencing greater emotional safety, stronger connection with themselves and others, increased self trust, and more choice in how they respond to life's challenges.

Care that honours your cultural, relational, and lived experiences.

The challenges we face are often shaped by more than one story. I recognise the influence of relationships, family, culture, grief, identity, and life circumstances.

Areas of Support

  • Burnout, emotional exhaustion, or feeling depleted despite doing all the "right" things.

  • Fertility challenges, IVF, or reproductive loss that carry both hope and grief.

  • Losses that are both visible and invisible, including changes in identity, relationships, roles, or direction.

  • Migration, cultural displacement, or the ongoing experience of living between cultures, expectations, and worlds.

  • Cultural, family, or intergenerational experiences that continue to shape how you relate to yourself and others.

  • Feeling emotionally disconnected from yourself, others, or relationships that matter deeply to you.

  • The pressure of always being the capable one while privately feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or alone.

  • Life transitions that are asking you to rethink who you are, what matters, and how you want to move forward.

Nisha Trivedi, PACFA Registered Clinical Counsellor and Somatic Practitioner providing online counselling across Australia

Hi, I'm Nisha.

I offer trauma informed counselling and somatic therapy online for adults aged 26 and over across Australia.

I didn't come to this work through textbooks alone. My path has been shaped by grief, cultural displacement, significant life transitions, and the quiet ache of carrying too much for too long. Like many of the people I support, I understand what it means to keep functioning through difficult experiences while something inside feels strained, unseen, or disconnected.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent nearly two decades supporting people through complex systems, leadership, case management, and regulatory roles. Through both my professional work and lived experience, I have seen how easy it can be for capable, caring people to lose sight of their own needs while continuing to meet the demands of life.

Over the years, I have come to recognise that many people learn to adapt to difficult experiences by becoming highly capable, responsible, independent, or focused on meeting the needs of others. Sometimes people seek therapy because relationships feel difficult. Sometimes they arrive feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, grieving, or noticing the impact that prolonged stress has had on their emotional and physical wellbeing.

I have also come to appreciate that difficult experiences are not only remembered in stories. They can be carried physically through tension, exhaustion, disconnection, and ways of responding that once helped us cope.

Having navigated personal, collective, and intergenerational trauma, I hold space with cultural humility, curiosity, and deep respect. My work is grounded in the understanding that our experiences are shaped not only by what has happened to us, but also by our relationships, culture, communities, and life circumstances.

You’re welcome to speak with me in English, Hindi, or Gujarati, whichever feels most natural to you.

At New Leaf with Nisha, I offer trauma informed counselling and somatic therapy that honours the complexity of your experiences and the strengths that have helped you navigate them.

By exploring the patterns, relationships, losses, and life experiences that continue to influence the present, counselling can support greater connection, self trust, emotional safety, and choice in how you respond to life's challenges.

My Holistic, Trauma-Informed Approach

These pillars, as below, support a therapeutic space that honours your full humanity, including your body, mind, culture, and story.

  • I see you as a whole person, not just stories or symptoms. Together, we explore how your emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual experiences shape your feelings, healing, and connections. This approach honors all parts of you, promoting understanding and growth toward well-being.

  • Healing starts in safe relationships, with others and yourself. Together, we’ll explore early attachment wounds and build your trust, emotional safety, and connection. As my client, you are the expert of your life. I honour your insight, pace, and readiness as we explore relational patterns with care.

  • I create a warm and supportive environment where you don’t have to perform, fix anything, or prove yourself. This is your space to breathe and simply be, allowing you to reconnect with yourself and what truly resonates with you. You are welcome here just as you are.

  • We go beyond talk therapy. I integrate somatic counselling, body-based practices, and nervous system education to help you regulate, release, and reconnect with your innate sense of emotional safety.

  • Your story, identity and lived experiences matter. I practice with cultural humility and an awareness that healing is never one-size-fits-all. You are the expert of your own experience, and your voice leads the way.

TRAUMA IS NOT A DISEASE;

It’s a protective and adaptive response to past experiences.

The impact of trauma can leave lasting imprints on our emotions, thoughts, bodies, sense of self, and relationships, often shaping how we navigate the present, even without conscious awareness.
