Compassionate Trauma-informed Counselling and Somatic Therapy in Brisbane and Australia-wide.
Support Grounded in Presence and an Ecological, Whole-Person Approach
At New Leaf with Nisha, my focus is on nurturing your whole self, not just addressing surface symptoms and in a space where you can arrive as you are and feel genuinely seen.
The word "trauma" comes from the Greek term "traûma," meaning wound. Just as physical wounds need care to heal, emotional wounds also require attention. When left unacknowledged, these emotional wounds can surface as triggers, body tension, or a general sense of unease, often intensifying during times of change. In this space, we'll collaborate to understand and reshape these patterns, so you can regain control and respond to life consciously.
I aim to support you in re-establishing safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, choice, and empowerment within yourself and your relationships, guided by the core principles of trauma-informed care. This work takes an ecological view of healing, i.e. recognising that wellbeing is shaped not only by your inner world, but also by relationships, community, culture, and the broader environment.
Here, healing unfolds at a pace that respects your nervous system and is supported by the innate wisdom of your body.

Why Counselling & Somatic Therapy Together?
Research shows that unresolved stress and trauma from childhood can leave lasting imprints on both the body and mind, shaping our health, relationships, and overall well-being. This is a crucial insight from the groundbreaking Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study, first documented by Felitti and colleagues.
The core of this research reveals that trauma isn't just a memory; it's a physiological experience stored within us. As Brené Brown explains, effective trauma work requires us to address both the mind and the body.
This means we can't just talk our way out of trauma. That's why embodied healing is so powerful as it asks us to pair our story with body-work. By understanding how the story lives within us, we can gently release its hold on our physical and emotional selves.
Bridging Mind and Body for Holistic Healing
This is where counselling and somatic therapy converge. Emotions aren't just thoughts; they are also felt and stored in the body. When past trauma remains unprocessed, it can manifest as anxiety, tension, or a sense of disconnection, subtly influencing how we navigate life today.
At New Leaf with Nisha, you can find a unique path to healing. My integrated approach pairs the deep reflection of talk therapy with the embodied wisdom of Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) and other mind-body practices. Instead of just discussing your past, we'll explore how your experiences are held in your body. This helps you recognise and release what no longer serves you, creating a safe space for repair and integration so you can feel more at home within yourself.
This integrated approach may be right for you if you're seeking to:
Calm emotional overwhelm and feel more steady.
Move beyond survival mode and respond to life with conscious choice.
Feel safe in your body and present in your relationships.
Cultivate self-trust and find ease in connecting with others.
The therapeutic process is about cultivating a grounded sense of choice and presence, helping you feel more at home in yourself. With your openness and participation, the integration of counselling and somatic therapy can strengthen your capacity to meet challenges with steadiness, restore emotional safety, and foster more authentic connections within and around you.
“With openness, counselling and somatic therapy can help you meet life with steadiness, safety, and authentic connections.” - Nisha Trivedi
Growth is a natural part of healing. In a safe, collaborative space, we’ll explore patterns and emotional responses, deepen self-awareness, and build tools for emotional regulation and confidence. Individual counselling supports your journey toward greater clarity, resilience, and a more meaningful life.
Your relationship can be a space for emotional safety, intimacy, and meaningful connection. Through therapeutic counselling, I support you and your partner to move through disconnection to rebuild trust, and shift unhelpful patterns. Together, we cultivate open communication, nervous system awareness, and deeper emotional attunement, so you can reconnect with clarity, compassion, and shared purpose.
Flexible, trauma-focused counselling to support you through change. Whether you're relocating, shifting careers, or entering a new chapter, online sessions help you process transitions, strengthen resilience, and reconnect with what matters. Feel more grounded, supported, and at home within yourself, wherever you are.
As a certified Trauma-Sensitive Yoga facilitator (TCTSY-F), I offer a safe, invitational space for embodied healing & rest.
