Support Grounded in Presence and an Ecological, Whole Person Approach

New Leaf with Nisha offers online trauma informed counselling and somatic support for adults across Australia.

My work is grounded in the understanding that wellbeing is shaped by many interconnected influences, including relationships, family systems, culture, community, life experiences, and the body.

Rather than focusing on symptoms in isolation, I take a whole person approach that considers the broader context of your life and the experiences that have shaped it.

Areas I Commonly Support Clients With

• grief and loss, including disenfranchised and intergenerational grief

• relational trauma, attachment wounds, and relationship difficulties

• fertility experiences and reproductive grief

• emotional overwhelm, burnout, and the impact of carrying too much for too long

• workplace stress, caregiving responsibilities, and high functioning survival

• life transitions, identity shifts, and cultural experiences

• reconnecting with self trust, boundaries, and meaningful relationships

Why Counselling & Somatic Therapy Together?

Combining counselling and somatic therapy means working with both the experiences you can put into words and the responses your body holds beyond them. Many people understand what has happened to them intellectually, yet still notice patterns that feel difficult to shift.

Research continues to show that stress, adversity, grief, and trauma influence not only our thoughts, but also our relationships, our physical wellbeing, our sense of safety, and the ways we respond to life.

Conversation helps us make sense of our experiences and the meaning we have made of them. Somatic therapy creates space to notice how those experiences continue to live in the body and nervous system, beyond what words alone can reach. Working with both supports nervous system regulation and a fuller understanding of the relational and attachment patterns that may no longer serve you.

Together, these approaches support greater awareness, connection, self trust, and choice in how you meet grief, burnout, relationship challenges, and life's transitions.

Counselling can support you to:

• make sense of your experiences

• understand recurring patterns in your life and relationships

• explore how relational experiences, attachment wounds, grief, and significant life changes which may be influencing the way you relate to yourself and others

• bring language, meaning, and understanding to what may feel difficult to carry alone

Somatic practices can support you to:

• notice how stress, overwhelm, and adaptation are expressed through the body

• develop greater awareness of emotional and physiological responses

• reconnect with the bodily, emotional, and relational cues that can become harder to hear when life requires us to keep adapting, and may have been overlooked in the process of coping

• access resources that support steadiness, choice, and self trust

When integrated, these approaches can support:

• clearer boundaries and healthier relationships

• greater confidence navigating grief, change, and uncertainty

• stronger self trust and decision making

• increased awareness of emotional, relational, and survival patterns

• less reliance on automatic coping strategies

• a deeper sense of connection with yourself and others

• a more embodied way of living, relating, and responding to life's challenges

Support for grief, relational trauma, emotional overwhelm, fertility experiences, workplace stress, and life transitions.
