<image:title>Blog - What Does Feeling Safe in Therapy Mean?</image:title>
<image:caption>What Safety Actually Means in Trauma-Sensitive Practice At New Leaf with Nisha, I integrate principles of counselling (talk therapy), somatic practices, and Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). These modalities help co-create a container where clients can reconnect with their bodies, emotions, feelings, associated sensations and inner knowing at their own pace. In trauma-sensitive care, safety is more than relational warmth and it's created through intentional behaviours, somatic awareness, and the client's sense of choice. Techniques such as invitational language, permission to pause, and nervous system literacy can help clients remain connected to themselves, rather than dissociating or shutting down. In this space, we're not pushing for breakthroughs or following a stepwise process a therapy style might recommend; we're allowing inward safety to unfold, step by step.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - What Does Feeling Safe in Therapy Mean?</image:title>
<image:caption>Recognising Emotional Armour as Adaptive Wisdom Clients often arrive in therapy with what I call emotional armour - the survival strategies shaped by past environments. And, as we know, survivors are geniuses as they have survived some very challenging times during their lifetime. Hence, these might look like: Over-intellectualising: Relying heavily on logic to avoid feeling (e.g., "I've read a lot about this, I understand it mentally…") People-pleasing or masking Hiding one's true feelings to maintain a connection or avoid judgment. Emotional numbness Feeling flat, emotionally distant, or "not really here" in session, even when showing up consistently. Hyper-independence or withdrawal "I don't need anyone. I'll deal with this on my own." (Often rooted in unmet needs or broken trust.) Sarcasm, humour, or overexplaining Using performance or wit to stay away from vulnerability.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Trauma-Sensitive Yoga: An Evidence-Informed Approach to Healing - What is Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)? Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an evidence-informed, somatic approach to healing that focuses on rebuilding emotional safety, trust, and reconnection to the body's innate wisdom. Unlike traditional forms of Yoga, TCTSY shifts the emphasis away from physical achievement or mastering postures and instead invites participants into the present-moment experience and choice-making, cornerstones of trauma recovery.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Trauma-Sensitive Yoga: An Evidence-Informed Approach to Healing</image:title>
<image:caption>A Personal Reflection: My Journey with TCTSY On a personal level, my journey with Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) has been incredibly transformative. Through this practice, I have rediscovered what it means to feel safe both within myself and in my relationships. It has helped me understand that being heard, seen, and respected is my right as a human being—not something I must earn through performance. Practicing Trauma-Sensitive Yoga has guided me in rebuilding trust within my body, tuning in to my needs, and recognizing the gentle strength that comes with making choices. This deeply personal transformation shapes how I support and guide others, always doing so with profound respect, compassion, and a heartfelt belief in the healing capacity that resides within each person. Trauma-Sensitive Yoga at New Leaf with Nisha At New Leaf with Nisha, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is woven into a holistic, whole-person approach to emotional and somatic healing. As the practice evolves within New Leaf, TCTSY will be integrated in ways that feels most supportive for our valued clients through personalised one-on-one sessions, small group offerings, or embodied practices within counselling support.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Rupture & Repair: The Heart of Relational Growth - Ruptures in relationships are an inevitable part of being human. Disagreements, misunderstandings, and moments of hurt can feel difficult to navigate. Over time, as we try to cope, these unresolved ruptures can build internal conflict. We may feel stuck, exhausted, or unsure how to move forward. Yet, it’s essential to recognise that relational growth doesn’t happen in spite of these ruptures—but through the process of repair.</image:title>
<image:caption>Why Repair Matters Repairing after a rupture helps deepen connection, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional resilience. However, for many of us, repair may not feel natural. Perhaps, as we have never had an opportunity to witness and experience healthy ways to repair in our own lives, making it hard to know where to begin. Learning how to repair is one of the most empowering relational skills we can develop. Sometimes, the process of repair can be one sided too.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Create a better YOU. - A gift to yourself for 2025 & beyond!</image:title>
<image:caption>With summer here, 2024 is about to conclude, and the festive season is almost upon us. It’s a time of the year when most of us are either frantically thinking about what gifts to buy, how to organise this holiday season, how to meet expectations that we and others have placed upon us or experiencing some kind of dread or maybe sadness while managing through exhaustion. It’s endless! And, somewhere amidst this whirlwind, a question often arises: ‘What about me?’ This simple yet profound query can lead us to unexplored territories within ourselves, places we may not want to visit, thoughts we do not wish to welcome and push us to say or do things we might later regret.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>

<image:title>Blog - Create a better YOU. - Small changes in our attitudes towards ourselves, others, and our behaviour can go a long way to making changes we want to experience and see.</image:title>
<image:caption>We can’t change anyone else but can work from within. Following the global pandemic and the current global trajectories, it’s easy to feel we have no control. However, the truth is, we have control over certain things, including our personal growth and the ability to co-create and alter our ways of being in this world. It is equally essential to identify what bettering yourself is not. Being a better person is not about: Being perfect. Think that there is something ‘wrong’ with you, and it needs fixing. Compromising on your values and integrity to fit in. Reaching a final “best self” destination.</image:caption>
